A.
Philip Randolph Institute SF and the City Housing
Authority offer summer fun for area youths
SAN FRANCISCO - The A. Philip Randolph Institute, San
Francisco Chapter (APRI-SF) in partnership with the San
Francisco Housing Authority join to present the 2012
Summer Youth Program (SYP). SYP is especially designed
to serve under served youth ages 5-18, keeping them
active, healthy, learning, and growing the entire
summer.
The program provides a positive environment.. taking an
all-inclusive approach to developing strong minds and
bodies. The planned schedule encourages physical
activities, daily educational instructions, reading,
arts and crafts, and exploring the city of San
Francisco.
Using the surrounding community as a classroom, children
are allowed to play, create and socialize in a fun and
safe environment. Activities for area youths include
walking field trips, local destinations such as
the zoo, libraries, museums and more. APRI-SF will
provide to ensure safe passage to and from program.
Youth internships offer an opportunity for motivated
young adults to develop leadership skills, and attain
work experience. Interns function as youth mentors and
guides to escort children home. Interns also perform
administrative tasks, and assist in providing meal
service.
Meal service includes Healthy Start Breakfast, lunch and
snack. The Healthy Start Breakfast is a menu developed
by our volunteer Youth Chapter crafted to encourage
children to make delicious healthy choices. Lunch and
snack are provided by KidChow through the DCYF Summer
Lunch Program.
SYP is offered Monday thru Thursday from 10am to 2pm.
APRI-SF is located at the root of Bayview-Hunters Point
at 1301 Evans Avenue, directly across the street from
