SEIU Local 1021 and Supporters take Protests to City Hall

SAN FRANCISCO - Hundreds of people could be seen gathered on the steps of San Francisco’s City Hall on March 5th late into the afternoon. Many among them were SEIU Local 1021 members but supportive people from the community matched that number, including those from the Community Based Organization A. Philip Randolph Institute San Francisco.

The rally was organized as a show of protest against the wage cut for 45 job classifications; jobs predominantly held by people of color and women. Community and Union members alike argue that this policy undermines if not eradicate the Pay Equity laws implemented in 1986 to correct the discriminatory wage disparities in city government.

APRISF Student Transportation Fund Drive Needs Your Help!

SAN FRANCISCO - The 2013 APRISF Student Transportation Fund Drive is now under way and will run until we reach the goal of 50 thousand dollars, the average annual operating cost. This year's goal reflects APRISF's long tradition of giving back to the community.

We work year round to provide a safe and guided path to the City College of San Francisco's Southeast Campus for students living in the Bayview/Hunters Point and Fillmore communities.

SEIU Local 1021 hits streets of SF with message of "Equal pay for equal work"

SAN FRANCISCO (Tell Us SFO) - SEIU Local 1021’s members and their supporters met on Valentine's Day to rally and send a message of solidarity to San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee. Union officials fear that city workers in 44 classifications - from leagal secretaries and payroll clercks to licensed vocational nurses, janitors and child support workers will be targeted by the wage cuts.

Attending the rally was Local 1021 presidential candidate Roxanne Sanchez, who said, with a passionate conviction, "...this action by the City is not necessary. We have marched in the streets again and again and again to fight for what is rightfully ours, what we deserve, and what we negotiated for!"
